TCP/IP Alarm Networking

Drax's AMX1 Alarm Management System accepts alarm signals from a wide range of sources. This now includes signals arriving via existing onsite Ethernet networks.

Drax TCP/IP nodes incorporate standard RJ45 10/100 BaseT Ethernet ports designed to work with standard Cat5/Cat5e connections. Drax nodes are dedicated to TCP/IP alarm management applications.

If required, Drax can supply and/or install a site security ethernet network. However, one of the advantages of TCP/IP networking is making use of an existing network infrastructure. When this is done it will be the responsibility of the site IT people to provide the infrastructure and ensure that an RJ45 10/100 Mb/s Ethernet port is available at every location. Drax recognise the importance of maintaining the site network and will plan the installation in conjunction with the site IT staff to ensure that no problems are caused. The network overhead is low, therefore the impact upon normal network operation will not be noticed.

Connectivity

There are two different ranges of Drax TCP/IP nodes:

  • I/O nodes - these connect to just about any type of equipment that can provide relay inputs and outputs.
  • Serial gateway nodes - these interface to a wide range of alarm control panels using an interface protocol. See our interface list.

This is a highly versatile system. Please contact us to discuss your exact requirements.
